About the Author

Amanda Block is a writer, ghostwriter and literary consultant.

In 2008, Amanda completed a Masters in Creative Writing at the University of Edinburgh, for which she was awarded a distinction. She then worked as an Overseas Writer for the Taiwanese magazine, English Digest, and on various ghostwriting and editing projects. In 2011, she became a full-time Literary Consultant for a small Geneva-based publishing house. She now divides her time between this, her freelance work and her own creative writing.

Amanda has been shortlisted for the Bridport Prize, the Waterstone’s Bookseller’s Bursary Award and the Chapter One Promotions Short Story Competition. She is currently working on a collection of fairy tale-inspired short stories and thinking about getting back to her half-finished novel.

Writer’s Block began in 2009 when Amanda attended a writers’ conference and was shouted at for not having an online presence. At the time, she intended the blog to track her writing progress, should she make any. When she did, she thought she’d better carry on with it.
